Hello Council Rock Community! This early edition of our newsletter has helpful information, such as links to the HAC, Back-to-School Night schedule, and school calendars to help you and your child prepare for the 2023-24 school year. This Special BTS edition will run until the start of the new year. Our regular weekly updates, with community events and flyers, will resume on Friday, September 8.

is Tuesday, September 5.

NEW THIS WEEK:

• Elementary parents should check the Elementary Breakfast and Lunch Menus from Chartwells added to this newsletter! Also, a link to the Chartwells/Nutrislice menus page is included below.
• Check your contact information in the Home Access Center for accuracy and to make updates. It is imperative that your contact information, such as email and contact phone numbers, is up-to-date so you receive communications from the District. The HAC will be available beginning at 9 AM on Monday, August 21. Please take a moment to check your profile information for accuracy!

In cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Council Rock School District will be offering free school breakfasts to all students in the 2023-2024 school year.

The universal school lunch program was made possible due to a $46.5 million funding increase in the budget signed by Gov. Shapiro this month.

What constitutes a free school breakfast?

One requirement of the program is that it operates on an offer vs serve basis - this means Council Rock must "offer" all 4 breakfast components to children on a daily basis which are:

1. Fruit/Vegetable
2. Milk
3. Protein
4. Grain

Like last year, in order for the meal to count as a claimed/reimbursable meal the child must take at least three (3) of the components above and one (1) of the components must be a fruit/vegetable. Students can take 2 fruits and a milk and that counts as a meal.

More information on free school breakfasts, described in the chart below, will be shared by Chartwells in the near future.
